About Spectrogram Waterfall
How it works
A high-resolution FFT (4096 or 8192 points) is computed during offline analysis for each time frame. The resulting magnitude spectrum is mapped to a column of pixels using a configurable color gradient (linear or logarithmic mapping). Columns are written sequentially to a scrolling texture buffer using a circular write pointer. The texture is rendered as a full-screen quad with the scroll offset handled in the UV calculation. Frequency axis can be switched between linear and logarithmic (mel-scale) mapping. An optional 3D mode extrudes the spectrogram into a waterfall mesh with height proportional to amplitude.

Chord Detection (L3) overlays harmonic markers on the spectrogram to highlight chord tones, Key Color Mapping (L6) applies a color gradient derived from the detected key, and Timbral Fingerprint (L10) adjusts frequency-axis weighting for perceptually balanced visual intensity.
