About Spatial Studio

Spatial Studio places your audio inside a three-dimensional room where walls, floor, and ceiling are surfaces that respond to sound with light and motion. The room is a minimalist architectural space -- clean lines, smooth surfaces, subtle materials -- that transforms into a dynamic light sculpture when music plays. Each surface acts as an independent audio-reactive element, with frequency-mapped color zones, displacement mapping that makes walls breathe, and reflective floor surfaces that double the visual complexity. The spatial arrangement adds a dimension that flat visualizers lack: directionality. Low frequencies emanate from the floor and lower walls while high frequencies activate the ceiling and upper surfaces. This vertical frequency mapping creates an intuitive spatial relationship between pitch and position that makes the audio feel physically present in the room. Stereo panning is represented as left-right lighting asymmetry, adding another layer of spatial information. Spatial Studio appeals to creators who want their visualizer to feel grounded and architectural rather than abstract and floating. The room provides context and scale, making the audio-reactive elements feel tangible and real. It is particularly effective for spatial audio, Atmos mixes, and any content where the physical relationship between the listener and the sound is important.

How it works

The room is a simple box geometry with inward-facing normals. Each wall face is UV-mapped and assigned a region of the frequency spectrum. Surface emission is computed in the fragment shader using frequency band energy as emissive color intensity. Displacement mapping uses a vertex shader that pushes wall vertices outward based on bass energy. The floor uses a glossy PBR material with screen-space reflections to mirror the wall lighting. Stereo channel separation is mapped to left/right wall activation ratios. The camera is positioned slightly off-center with gentle audio-reactive sway for subtle parallax.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this support spatial audio formats?+
Spatial Studio is designed with spatial audio in mind. While it renders in stereo, the left-right frequency mapping naturally visualizes stereo width, panning, and spatial positioning cues.
Can I change the room shape?+
Room presets include rectangular studio, hexagonal chamber, and cylindrical rotunda. Each shape produces different reflection patterns and frequency distribution layouts.
Can I place objects in the room?+
The room is intentionally minimal to keep focus on the audio-reactive surfaces. However, you can enable a central pedestal that displays a 3D audio-reactive object (sphere, cube, or torus).
